Welcome! I hope you'll be posting what you learn at the conference, as well as providing your fellow conference attendees with words of wisdom.
The learning labs start tonight, and they will be a great way for us to come together and synthesize the information we've gathered during the day. We certainly started off with a bang at this morning's keynote. And it was a prime example of how all the best instructional design won't help if you don't have a good trainer who can keep things moving despite numerous technical problems.
However, instructional designers can provide instructors with some tools to help them manage such circumstances - alternate media, exercises that are "nice to have" and can be used while technical issues are resolved.
What ideas do you have about how instructional designers can arm instructors to face difficult situations during a live training session?
See you tonight!

You can see by the 2-26-08 Discussion page that there were several interesting topics discussed. Once again, I have questions to pose to viewers of this wiki. These are questions that arose during the first of the two instructional designer learning labs.
Question 1
Are the skills of a classroom instructional designer the same or different from those of an online instructional designer (either synch or asynch)? If so, how do they differ? If not, what are the striking similarities?

Question 2
Is instructional design a dying art? At least one speaker during the conference predicted the demise of instructional designers. He that the advent of rapid development tools, that is easy to learn and use, is making it possible for subject matter experts to create effective courses without the need for instructional designers. What are your thoughts?

Question 3
What does "Rapid elearning development" mean to you? During the session, we heard a number of different definitions!

Question 4
Is ADDIE dead? This was proposed by at least one speaker at the conference. He said it takes too long, and everything today is about speed. Do you think ADDIE takes too much time without adding comparable value?

Question 5
What elearning development tools do you use? And what do you like/dislike about them?
